Can Cheating Tom Sandoval Be Compared to Real-World Tragedies?

Tom Sandoval Sparks Controversy with Cheating Scandal Remarks

Reality TV can get messy, but comparing a cheating scandal to real-world tragedies? That's a whole new level of drama. Tom Sandoval, a star on Bravo's "Vanderpump Rules," recently did just that in a New York Times interview, leaving many fans scratching their heads.

Caught Red-Handed

Last season on Vanderpump Rules, viewers watched as Tom's relationship with his longtime girlfriend, Ariana Madix, crumbled. It turned out Tom had been cheating on her with her friend, Rachel Leviss. The drama unfolded throughout the season's reunion specials and continues to impact the current season.

A Questionable Comparison

In the interview, Tom tried to explain the media frenzy surrounding his cheating. He said, "I'm not a history buff, but I remember the O.J. Simpson case and George Floyd's death. Those were huge stories, and it's weird to compare this to them, but do you think, in a strange way, it's a little similar?"

There's no denying that Tom's cheating was a major storyline on the show. But comparing it to the brutal murder of George Floyd, a real-life tragedy that sparked worldwide protests against racial injustice, is insensitive and tone-deaf.

Feeling Unfairly Targeted?

Tom also claimed he received more criticism than Danny Masterson, a former actor on "That 70s Show" who was accused and later convicted of rape.  He stated, "I feel like I got more hate than him, and he's a convicted criminal!"

Seeking Understanding

While Tom's actions were wrong, it's important to understand why he cheated. In the interview, he admitted to being unhappy in his relationship and getting "caught up in emotions." However, that doesn't excuse his behavior.

Taking Responsibility

The best Tom can do at this point is take responsibility for his actions and apologize to those he hurt.

Where Does Vanderpump Rules Go From Here?

With all this drama, viewers are left wondering how it will affect the future of "Vanderpump Rules." Will Tom and Ariana be able to rebuild their relationship? Will Rachel face any consequences for her role in the scandal? Only time will tell.
