More Marlow Mayhem! The Marlow Murder Club Announces Unexpected Story Format

The Marlow Murder Club Cracks More Cases: Season 2 Gets Greenlight!

Calling all mystery lovers!  Get ready for more puzzling crimes and amateur sleuthing, because the hit show "The Marlow Murder Club" is returning for a second season!  This news is sure to excite fans who enjoyed the first season's thrilling whodunnits.

More Episodes, More Mysteries

The first season of The Marlow Murder Club adapted one book into two 90-minute episodes.  This time around, things are changing up a bit.  Season 2 will feature six hour-long episodes,  giving us even more time to untangle the mysteries.

There will be three murder cases in total, with each case getting two episodes to be fully explored.  This double-episode format will allow for a deeper dive into each mystery,  keeping viewers on the edge of their seats.

New Stories and Returning Writers

The first episode and second episode of season 2 will adapt Robert Thorogood's second book in The Marlow Murder Club series, "Death Comes to Marlow."   But that's not all!  The remaining four episodes will feature brand new stories written specifically for the show.

To bring these fresh stories to life, the show will welcome new writers on board.  Lucia Haynes (known for her work on "Annika") and Julia Gilbert (writer on "Ridley") will each contribute an episode.  Of course, Robert Thorogood himself will also be writing one of the new stories.

The Dream Team Returns

The heart of The Marlow Murder Club lies with its fantastic lead characters.  The fantastic news is that the original sleuthing trio is coming back!  Samantha Bond will reprise her role as the sharp and retired archaeologist Judith Potts.

Joining her will be Jo Martin, returning as the vicar's wife Becks Starling, and Cara Horgan back as the dog-walker Suzie Harris.  These three friends proved to be a delightful team in the first season, and their chemistry is sure to continue to shine in season 2.

Natalie Dew is also confirmed to be returning as DCI Tanika Malik.  While the Marlow Murder Club does most of the investigating,  having DCI Malik on board provides a crucial connection to the official police investigation.

More Murders in Marlow

The official synopsis for season 2 hints at the kind of cases our favorite detectives will be tackling.  It sounds like they'll be facing a variety of puzzling crimes,  from a locked-room murder to a seemingly random death in a quiet neighborhood.  There will even be a suspicious accident at the Marlow sailing club that turns out to be something much more sinister.

Filming and Release Date

Production for season 2 is set to begin filming this summer.  While there isn't an exact release date yet, we can expect the new episodes to arrive on U&DRAMA and U (the rebranded UKTV Play) sometime in 2025.
